APERTURE - A HOUSE

2023 FALL

Situated on the hill of the Ithaca Gun Factory, the house is carefully shaped to control natural light. Angled interior walls channel or block sunlight, creating distinct atmospheres in different spaces throughout the day.

Beyond illuminating spaces, light also guides occupants through the house, highlighting specific corners at particular times.

The absence of light also acts as a psychological threshold, subtly delineating spaces without physical barriers. As a result, the house provides a secure and intuitive environment, maintaining spatial continuity while eliminating the need for traditional

doors.
